Holiday Outfit #3: Glam!

Only 3 more days until Christmas! I saved the best outfit for last, and this one is by far my favourite. I don't have nearly enough fancy events to have warranted purchasing this dress, but I have no regrets! This is a total glam outfit that can be repeated all year round. Add a red lip and red nails and you've got a fab holiday outfit. Keep reading for more photos and outfit details!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 24

Only 4 more days until Christmas! Eeeeeek!!!
Sorry for the late post, but this weekend has been busy with holiday parties and trying to see everyone who's home for the holidays. So I'm going to keep this one short and sweet and leave you with a couple cool things I found this week. Hope you're enjoying the last weekend before Christmas!

Tamira has some great last minute gift ideas. I would love getting any of these!

I am totally crushing over Anna's holiday dress. I'm trying to think of any event/excuse to buy it. Must. Resist. Temptation!

I have been sharing this one with everyone this week as it's just too good. The Hater's Guide to the William Sonoma Catalogue. Because a regular pot just isn't good enough for hot chocolate. Trust me, you will be in tears laughing ;) Quick! Get the goat cheese frittata pan!

Anyone brave the stores this weekend? Any cool holiday parties? I've definitely eaten too much!

Holiday Outfit #2: Silver + Blue

Another holiday party outfit today! This slightly dressier look is centered around the statement bright cobalt blue dress. Add some silver accessories, and you've got a super cute outfit. Keep reading for some more photos and outfit details!

DIY Holiday Garland

I love everything about the holidays, but for some reason I wasn't very inclined to decorate my own space for my first Christmas there last December. I guess cause it's small, I'm away for the first bit of December, and it's just me anyway. But this year I decided to fill it with a bit more festive cheer. I've got a mini tree (seriously, it's drowning in presents it's so small), a wreath that my bestie made for me last year, and I whipped up this DIY garland last week. It's super easy to make, so keep reading for the instructions!

Holiday Outfit #1: Sugar Plum

Holiday party season is upon us! One of my favourite things about this time of year is the opportunity to bust out my fancy gear and get all dolled up. I've got a total of 3 outfits to share with you over the next week or so, and the first is this plum-colorer jumpsuit. Keep reading for more photos!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 23

Ah Sunday: the day of rest, which is exactly what I'm doing! I've been feeling poorly all week, and back to work after coming home from Brussels didn't help much. Then the slew of holiday luncheons started on Friday, and the first of 3 Christmas parties was last night. Today I have no plans other than cleaning up my loft and trying to finally kick this cold out the door.

I did find some cool bits on the internet this week, so check 'em out!

The Beauty Department broke down "the lob" for all those thinking of making the big chop. Do it!

WhoWhatWear had some great tips for packing winter clothes for all those going away to a not so south destination this winter.

Need entertaining at your office party? Pay attention to what people are wearing says about them...

And finally, if Wes Anderson were to direct the upcoming Star Wars. I want to see his version too!

Planning a Christmas Menu // Brussels Photo Diary

What are your weekend plans?

Brussels Photo Diary

Bonjour! I'm back from Belgium (unfortunately with a cold) and I've got a bit of a photo diary for you today. Brussels was beautiful and what I liked most of all was how walkable it was. Everything was within walking distance and it was easy to explore most of the city in a day. Keep reading for more photos!

Planning a Christmas Menu

Just over 2 weeks until Christmas, what a perfect time to talk about planning a Christmas menu! It's not secret that I love to cook and bake, and so I've been in charge of the Christmas menu for the last several years. One thing that makes it easy is that the most we've ever been for Christmas is 8 people, but it's still my dream to host a massive Christmas dinner one year. Here are some over the best tips I've learned over the past couple years!

Date Night 3 Different Ways

So excited to be collaborating on today's post with Joelle from La Petite Noob and Emily from Moonlight Chai! We're here to give you 3 different ideas for a date night in winter, so be sure to check out their posts as well.

Winter can be a tough season to dress for, especially when Mother Nature is having a moment and can't make up her mind. Bring date night into the mix, and choosing an outfit becomes that much more difficult. Well lucky for you, we've got 3 different ideas for date night dressing! Keep reading for more photos and outfit details!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 22

Happy Weekend! Gonna make this a quick one as I'm off to my second yoga class of the weekend! Woot woot! Had an amazing brunch yesterday with one of my colleagues, and I'm off to my folks' place this afternoon to help put up their Christmas tree and wrap some gifts. My Christmas shopping is about 99% done, so pat on the back for me ;). Now to tackle packing (for Brussels) and getting some blog posts all set up. In case you need something to do this dreary Sunday, check out these links below:

This article had me literally laughing out loud. Women draw their boobs. Nuff said.

American Thanksgiving was this week, so Refinery 29 obviously had to rank every Friends Thanksgiving Episode. Rachel triffle with beef and sautéed onions and peas will forever hold my heart.

Only just starting your Christmas shopping?? Check our Anna's amazing Christmas Gift Guides (Part 1 and Part 2). She's so adorable with her antlers.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 21

I'm the most wonderful time of the year!! It's official, the Christmas music has started to play on the radio and in the stores. Decorations are coming out. This girl is excited!!

Getting ready for my trip to Brussels in just over a week, and trying to be prepared for when I come back to the madness of Christmas parties and the pre-holiday scramble at work. I'm about 80% done my Christmas shopping now, thanks to the lovely holiday shopping event at Anthropologie this week. There was punch, an awesome buffet table, complimentary gift wrapping, and gift ideas galore. Thank you Anthropologie!

Here are some fun things I found on the internet this week:

My sister and I regularly have conversations based around emojis. Here is a hilarious article about their evolution.

Taylor Swift lip syncing to her own song. I didn't think she could get any better!

As someone who enjoys her sleep, I had fun doing this sleep quiz.

This article on braid hacks makes me wish my hair was long enough to braid.

I love water-colour illustrations, and found this account on Instagram. Gorgeous. (insert heart-eyed emoji here)

Beauty Bits Vol. 3 (Beauty Blogger edition) // Grey Pullover + Blanket Scarf // Bite Beauty Holiday

Hope you had a fab week!

Bite Beauty Holiday Sets!

Time to start thinking about holiday shopping ladies! Same as the last two years, I'll be away at an annual conference for the first week and a bit of December. When I get back, holiday parties start and it gets really busy too fast. That leaves little room for holiday shopping, so I'm on a mission to get the majority of it done before I leave.

Bite Beauty has some seriously good holiday sets on offer this year that would make the perfect gift for the beauty junkie in your life. While I really really really wanted this set (can never have too many right?)...I figured it was a bit of an overkill. Keep reading to see the sets I picked up!

Lip Love Kit: This should definitely be gifted to anyone who doesn't know about Bite Beauty yet. Cherry scrub. Check. BB for lips. Check. Agave Lip Mask. DOUBLE CHECK! And the Lush Lip Wipes are a fab bonus. This is a really nice introduction to some of the brands best products.

Mix N' Mingle Lip Minis: Next up, the cutest holiday ornaments ever! Such a cute idea for stocking stuffers in some great classic and limited edition shades. Plus the mini sizes make them perfect for your clutch or travel. I got the mini gloss in Garnet.

Best Bite Remix: Saved the best for last! I believe this is sold out online, but they still have some at my local Sephora so you should check yours out. Mini High Pigment Lip Pencils in classic (Rhubarb and Pomegranate) and limited edition (Winterberry and Sable) shades. I love how the tin comes equipped with a mirror in the lid. Perfect purse companion!

Will you be checking any of these amazing sets out as gifts for your friends...or yourself??

Fall Capsule: Grey pullover + Blanket scarf

Snow. The inevitable white stuff has finally arrived. Love it or hate it, it was bound to show up sooner or later. I must say, I quite like waking up to a picturesque dusting. Two feet of snow, trying to get to work...that's a whole other story. Time to bundle up ladies! I wore this super cozy outfit (sans hat inside though) on a lazy paperwork day at work last week, and all that was missing was nap time and hot cocoa! Keep reading for more photos and additional outfit details.

Sweater - Madewell, Pants - J. Crew, Booties - Aldo (old, similar), Hat - Kate Spade, Blanket Scarf - Anthropologie,   Rings - Silver Gallery & Etsy, Lipstick - Rimmel Kate Moss 107

Ah blanket scarves, the ultimate blogger accessory for fall. I'm totally in love with this one from Anthropologie. It's two sided with rich jewel tones on one this (pictured), and more earthy tones on the other. Double the style! I'm also seriously in love with this hat that I snagged in the Kate Spade Friends & Family sale.

Hope you're keeping warm and cozy!

Beauty Bits Vol. 3 (Beauty Bloggers Made Me Do It)

Another volume of Beauty Bits for you all! This time, I was inspired by fellow beauty bloggers for all of these products. Sometimes a recommendation is just too good to pass up. I must say, all of these products were true to their recommendations and I've been using them non-stop. Keep reading for more details.

The Weekend Edit Vol. 20

Sorry about blogging being put on hold this week. Work was a little insane and I was out every night for various reasons. Definitely soaking up the me time this weekend. I did manage to catch Interstellar this week though, and I thought it was fantastic! I also did a fair amount of internet browsing (I should really be focusing on Christmas shopping, and not shopping for myself haha) and so here are some links below:

Totally in love with this mini bag from Kate Spade Saturday. Festive, yet appropriate for year round use.

I am also totally in love with these lace-up flats. And the heel option!!
And in case you want a DIY option, Geneva totally read my mind this week with these DIY lace-up flats.

I love a good Christmas sweater, and this J. Crew one looks totally fab.

Speaking of Christmas, I may just have to make this brioche wreath as a centrepiece this year!

A Cup of Jo featured this fantastic small space, and I am totally in love. Makes me want to redo parts of my small space :)

Hope you guys had a lovely week and weekend. Back to blogging this week!

The Weekend Edt Vol. 19

I'm currently writing this post sipping on a homemade eggnog latte, and it's the best feeling in the world! To all the people who are still avoiding the "C-word", I don't care, Christmas is coming!! November is about 30 days too long in my opinion. The days are shorter, it's getting colder, and we start to get snow. What better way to get out of that slump than to think about the upcoming holidays. So I'm going to enjoy my eggnog latte to the max, thank you very much!

In other news, I got back from Hawaii this week. Such an amazing trip, and you can see photos here. More exciting news this week: my sister and I got VIP tickets to see Taylor Swift next summer!! Woot woot! So pumped!

So even though I'm back at crazy work post vacation, this week hasn't been all that bad ;). Here are some of my faves from the internet this week:

The microbiologist in me is following everything Ebola very closely. This is one of the best editorials on the current state of affairs that I've read yet. Must read.

Emma Stone is one of my fave celebrities, and I absolutely love her style. The Gloss round up all the times she's broken fashion rules and it's paid off. My favourites are when she broke rules 4 and 7.

After seeing this lip look on Essie Button, I had to try it out...and I love it!

Anna has done it again and made contouring so simple.

Joelle's mixed print outfit was so on point this week. Love it!

Hope you had a great week!

#tbt Hawaii Photo Diary

So in case you don't follow me on Instagram, I was on vacation for the last week and half in beautiful Hawaii! Boy is it tough coming back to reality after a trip like that. Here is a little photo diary of my time there.

Fall Capsule: White Silk Cami + Statement Skirt

Sometimes, you just feel like being a little extra fancy. Know what I mean? This skirt is all over that. It's one of those pieces in my wardrobe that instantly puts me in a better mood. Best part? It looks equally good with just a simple grey tee for a more dressed down look. Iggy Azalea's Fancy is totally on repeat in my head right now. Ok, moving on. Keep reading for more photos and outfit details!

DIY Penny Jug (inspired by Disney's UP!)

I have this adorably cute DIY project for you all today! If you're Canadian, you'll know that the penny was taken out of circulation about 2 years ago. Apparently, the average Canadian has about 600 pennies hoarded away, a fact I now believe it after this project. I had a cookie tin full of pennies that my grandfather had collected by stashing away loose change, and didn't quite know what to do with them. After watching UP! one day (my favourite movie of all time), I thought I'd recreate the change jug Carl and Ellie use in the movie to save up for their trip to Paradise Falls. Keep reading for the full, and incredibly easy, instructions!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 18

Happy weekend! For my fellow Canucks, most of us probably had a short work-week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The week really did fly by. Relaxing this weekend at the cottage, doing some baking and fire-building. Time has started to move very slowly for me at this point though as I can't wait to leave on vacation next Friday! Hopefully the week will pass by quickly though. I'm giving a presentation Tuesday, and leaving for a last minute business trip Wednesday. Home at midnight Thursday night just in time to catch my flight Friday morning. My travel skills are really going to be put to the test.

Here are some fun links to brighten your Sunday:

Loved reading this post about going without makeup for a week. I don't know if I could do it...

How to tuck, roll, and belt your way into fashion perfection! I'm a big fan of the half-tuck and the J. Crew sleeve roll.

Drunk J. Crew. Trust me, you'll thank me :)

This tutorial is fantastic for the lived-in berry lip trend.

Beauty Bits Vol. 2 // Moto mini skirt + Grey graphic sweater

How was your week?

Fall Capsule: Moto Mini Skirt + Grey Graphic Sweater

Hey guys, another outfit post from my Fall Capsule Wardrobe for you today! It features this fabulous moto mini skirt from Madewell that most may think would be a bit hard to pull off at the office. The trick? Pairing it with opaque black tights and feminine pieces. Keep reading for more photos and outfit details!

Happy Hump Day!The best thing about a 4-day week is that Wednesday comes faster, which means Friday comes sooner, which means...weekend. And I'm on vacation as of next Friday, so I'm just counting down the days until I can get some much needed R&R!! As I get a couple of vacation-themed posts ready, here's a quick Beauty Bits for you today. Keep reading to see some recent beauty purchases and mini reviews.

The Weekend Edit Vol. 17

To my fellow Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! This Thanksgiving, I'm celebrating my 3 year work anniversary. On that note, I'm thankful for having met all of the patients I've gotten to work with over the past 3 years. They've all helped shape me in their own unique way.

I'm spending my long weekend out in the country. Lots to do to get the place and my sailboat ready for winter, and I also have to finish off presentation and proposal for work. But the fact that there will be a perpetual fire roaring makes everything better. I may even take a nap (or two) in front of said fireplace.

I basically always want everything on the ONA website, but so far have only caved to the Roma. The release of their North Sound Clutch may make a dent in my wallet however.

It's no secret that I'm borderline OCD and these organization accessories are all amazing.

Joelle is back from her trip to Italy and I loved looking through all the outfits she came up with from only carry on luggage!

A great editorial read on the 2003 avalanche that shook up the BC back country.

And finally, because I couldn't resist, why Hocus Pocus is the most important part of October. Booooooooookkk!

Striped dress + Statement Necklace

What are your plans for the long weekend?

Fall Capsule: Striped dress + Statement necklace

On this extra gloomy, dark, and rainy day here in Montreal I am really feeling the colours in these photos I took last week. I am loving how bright these vines have gotten! Due to the inclement (read: atrocious) weather  I woke up to this morning, I am unfortunately not wearing this outfit today. But it will definitely be in heavy rotation for the rest of the season. Keep reading for outfit details and more photos!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 16

Ah, the weekend! Maybe I'll actually get my ironing done this time. No, but seriously, it's been sitting  out for 2 weeks now and I just can't will myself to do it. My one goal today is to get that done. I'm absolutely awful when it comes to ironing, it's my least favourite chore. By miles.

That and doing the dishes. I generally leave a trail of dirty dishes behind whenever I bake or cook. Last night's dishes from making Lemon Posset (pictured above) are still waiting for me in the sink. I better get to 'em!

Here are some cool things I found on the internet this week:

ESPN did such a wonderful essay on Derek Jeter. It's the end of a baseball era and I'm sad

Buzzfeed is killing it with their new editorials. This one on the history of Madewell is fascinating!

I totally made this recipe from Gabby yesterday. They were delish!

Any True Detective fans here?? I'd totally love to see this become a reality.

And finally, the ABM girls did it again with a pumpkin spice white russian. Sadly, I currently have no Bailey's on my bar cart. So if I do venture outside at all today, it will be to pick some up.

And in case you missed anything on Love. Loft. Life. this week:

Silk dress + Pullover sweater

What did you get up to this weekend?

Fall Capsule: Silk dress + Pullover sweater

Mother nature has been all over the place lately will the freaky (but very welcomed) warm weather last weekend, and then the sudden drop earlier this week. When mother nature doesn't know how to make up her mind, doesn't mean you don't have to either. Just layer instead! Keep reading for more photos and outfit details.

The Weekend Edit Vol. 15

After the craziness that was last week, taking it easy this week was awesome. I didn't have any concrete plans, finally did some decent groceries, and got back to the yoga studio. Missing my weekly yoga sesh is something that I totally notice in my life. I think it's what keeps me sane. I also have a home practice, but there's something almost magical about the yoga studio I go to.

In other news, I found out something really exciting on Friday...I'm headed to Brussels in December!! Woohoo! These work trips are always so unexpected and I'm always so grateful to be able to travel like I do. Can't wait! If anyone has been to Brussels and has suggestions, let me know in the comments below!

You never know what will happen, so I always keep a phone battery booster in my purse. I've also just ordered this one for when I travel. Isn't it cute!

So far I haven't been very successful at food photography. This article is so in depth and has a ton of great tips. Definitely worth checking out.

Fall beauty trends to try! Straight hair and a bold red lip have been my go-to lately.

I am the queen of sleep, so for anyone who makes fun of my excessive need to sleep, you should read this.

My Fall Capsule Wardrobe // Jogging pants + Chambray shirt // Beauty Bits Vol. 1

How was your week?

Beauty Bits Vol. 1

TGIF!! I've made some naughty little beauty purchases in the past couple of weeks, and I decided to save them up for a Beauty Bits post. Mostly new launches, and one item that I somehow missed and don't know how because it's awesome!

Fall Capsule: Jogging pants + Chambray shirt

The first outfit from my Fall Capsule Wardrobe. Yay! And this one is a good one. A really good one.
I realize that I am lucky that I don't have a strict dress code at work, and so I can experiment a bit with my wardrobe. The priority for me is also comfort, as most days I am running around all over the place. Enter these printed jogging pants from J. Crew. I think it's love. Keep reading for additional photos and more outfit details!

Fall Capsule Wardrobe!

Today is officially the first day of Fall! While I'm very sad to see the end of summer, the near frigid temperatures we've had here in Montreal over the past 2 weeks have really put me in the mood for fall.

In my first Wardrobe Restyle post, I mentioned my interest in experimenting in capsule wardrobes. I love the idea of having a capsule wardrobe, but have always been a little bit hesitant to try having one. I love my clothes, and I like variety, but I decided to take the plunge this Fall and create a capsule wardrobe for my work wear. Keep reading for more photos and details!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 14

My ultimate goal for today is to do absolutely nothing. And I mean nothing. I had a whirlwind trip Monday and Tuesday to the middle-of-nowhere New Jersey for annual Jaguar Land Rover training. Came home Wednesday on an absolute low after having driven exquisite 550 hp vehicles the past two days. Onto Thursday and Friday where I was double booked all over the place, back-to-back meetings and conferences and late night suppers. Finally Sunday has arrived and I'm ready to chill out in my PJs all day long. Haven't had too much internet time this week, but here are a couple of things I found.

The one thing I miss about my long hair is being able to do interesting up-dos on those days when I really don't want to fuss with my hair. This post has some cute ideas, and the last one was my fave!

LOVE this video of tips for a better morning. I didn't do any of my quick morning yoga flows this past week and it's hitting me hard. Back at it next week!

Totally crushing on this swimsuit after seeing Anna pack it in her suitcase.

And in case you missed any Love. Loft. Life. posts from this week (it's a wonder anything got posted. Thank goodness for scheduling):
Evaluating Your Wardrobe // Evaluating Your Lifestyle

How was your week?

Wardrobe Restyle - Evaluating Your Lifestyle

Good morning! After doing a mega pre-fall cleanup of our closets, it's time to take a step back from looking directly at our wardrobes, and start looking into ourselves. Deep, I know. If you're ever faced with the statement "I have nothing to wear" in the morning, it may be because your wardrobe isn't reflecting you or your needs. Your wardrobe should reflect your personality, but also your lifestyle. So today, we're going to take a look at our lifestyles and see if our wardrobes compliment that. Keep reading for more!

Wardrobe Restyle - Evaluating Your Wardrobe

The weather has been quite chilly over the past couple days here in Montreal, and it's really starting to feel like Fall. With that in mind, it's time to start Part 2 of Wardrobe Restyle (catch all the previous posts here!) and prep our wardrobes for Fall. Today we're going to evaluate the current state of our wardrobes and do a clean up. Keep reading for more!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 13

Phew! I don't know about you, but I am totally exhausted after this week. I didn't sleep particularly well, and work was pretty dull this week. And when work is dull, I get bored, and when I get bored, I get tired. On the bright side, I got to catch up with a lot of my friends this week. Had an AMAZING meal at Tuck Shop on Wednesday for my lovely friend's birthday. I love eating at small local restaurants, who emphasize local ingredients.
Moving on to next week! Headed to the airport this evening for a super exciting mini-trip (for me at least) for the next couple days. Stay tuned to Instagram for glimpses into my alter-ego ;). Ok, onto my roundup of cool things I found on the internet this week.

I am so making this tart for my next dinner party! Also on the topic of yummy things, this smoothie looks amazing.

The 13 types of people on Instagram. Hilarious!

Wendy's outfit is perfection.

What would your Fashion Blogger Name be? Apparently mine should be Basic Basil Bae. I'm dying over here!

I have serious closet envy after looking through these fashion blogger closets.

Wardrobe Restyle - Signature Look

An important part of developing personal style is having a signature look. Something you can always fall back on when you don't know what to wear. It should be comfortable, but also versatile so you can easily switch it up. I seriously can't get enough stripes into my wardrobe, and I'm afraid to admit how many of this exact shirt I own. The Weekend Edit Vol. 12

Happy weekend! Thankfully this was a 4-day work week, otherwise I don't think I would have survived. Spending another weekend at the cottage, relaxing and spending time with the chipmunks! There are about half a dozen chipmunks who live in the area around our cottage, and we are known as the food gods to them. If you follow me on Instagram, the chipmunks are often featured. There is one in particular, who we have named CC (for Crazy Chipmunk) who is so friendly and cuddly. She comes over and jumps right onto our shoulders! She's so silly, she will do anything for a peanut. Ok, I  confess that I might be a little obsessed with the chipmunks. In other news, here are some cool things I found on the internet this week.

I really liked this list of things you should do in your 20s.

I totally agree with everything in this list about things no one tells you about being a grown up, especially about valuing sleep. Sleep is my superpower.

The fact that Barbie is a fashion blogger made me laugh so much!

Anyone else obsessed with all the #nyfw snaps taking over their social media feeds? Here is a list of all the live feeds. I also like to see what J. Crew puts together.

LOVED this interview with Bill Cunningham on the state of the fashion industry.

10 Item Wardrobe // My thoughts on fashion & fashion blogging

What did you get up to this weekend?

My thoughts on fashion & fashion blogging

As I'm starting to get more and more into fashion and style related posts here on the blog, I've been thinking about writing a post like this for a while. I figured with New York Fashion Week in full swing, what better time!

Let's talk a bit about why I'm so passionate about fashion, shall we? Ok, stop right there. I have a hard time with the word fashion. Fashion is something very volatile in my opinion. I prefer to talk about style, and personal style. I think style and fashion are two distinct things, but interwoven with each other. That may have made no sense. Moving on.

My grandmother was always a very classy and stylish lady, and I always looked up to her. In fact, many of my vintage pieces come from her. I think she's the root of my love for fashion and style. She was a very avid seamstress, and would actually make many of her clothes. She taught me how to sew, but unfortunately I wasn't much into it at the time. I should have paid more attention. She also made my dress for graduation from kindergarten (do they still have kindergarten graduations these days??), and I LOVED that dress. If she were still around today, I think she would be very proud of my current style choices.

While careers in fashion have always fascinated me, I never really thought it was for me. That being said, I've had my chance here and there to dabble in it. I took a fashion design course in high school, which was awesome, and I still enjoy drawing up sketches of models and outfits now and then.

Through my dad's work in the automotive industry, I also get to help choose the outfits for the girls who work for Jaguar Land Rover at the auto shows every year. My dad is never really thrilled with this task, so he's always happy to have some female help come along. I've helped put together many outfits over the past few years, and I'm pretty darn proud of some of them (those cream pant suits with gold tops, from BCBG, circa auto show circuit 2012 were to die for!).

I've also had my fair share of fashion faux-pas over the years as well. As a student, I basically lived in Lululemon leggings and sweatshirts. Hey, cut the girl some slack! Being a science nerd is hard work!

All of this to say that my love for fashion and style runs deep, and I'm really enjoying doing these posts on my blog. I read a lot of fashion and style blogs, and it's amazing to see how far blogging has taken some of these women in the industry. That being said, I also really admire the bloggers who blog about style with what they have, and don't feel the need to go out and purchase a pair of Manolo's just to have a great post. Luxury things are nice as a treat, but they most certainly don't define you. Two women can be equally as stylish, one in DVF and the other in Gap.

Maybe this post was a little long-winded, and also a little disjointed, but I wanted to get these thoughts down in writing. My friend Joelle also did a great post this weekend on her priorities as a style blogger. So you should definitely go check that out.

What are your thoughts on fashion and fashion blogging??

Wardrobe Restyle - 10 Piece Wardrobe

We're almost done the first part of Wardrobe Restyle (catch the other posts here, here, and here). Now, before you freak out about the title of this post, this is simply a thought experiment to help us further delve into our personal style. Think about all of the items you currently have in your wardrobe, excluding outerwear and accessories like scarves and jewelry. If you could only keep 10 of those items, what would they be? Keep reading to see my 10 most loved items in my wardrobe!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 11

What is everyone up to this long weekend? I'm in Toronto, helping my folks set my sister up for University. Seeing her go through this experience is making me reminisce about my own uni days, and also making me wish I had gone away for university as well. But I guess I also wouldn't be where I am today had I gone somewhere else.

Last week was pretty uneventful, other than the post vacation blues, but September is shaping up to be crazy busy. I'm doing lots of reading for work for some upcoming projects, and also have some pretty exciting things planned for this space. Also, my love affair with pumpkin spice lattes has been rekindled (as evidenced with the above photo). I'm in trouble.

In case you missed it, this week I talked about mood boards

Missed the VMAs last weekend? No worries, because the audience cam was way better than the show. And the Emmys were on a Monday, which was weird. But Buzzfeed's got you covered on that too!

I am totally hooked on T Swizzle's new song Shake It Off. Haters can hate, but I love it!

I really liked this article from Buzzfeed on what women wear to work in their office. I'm lucky that there is no strict dress code at work, just unwritten rules, so I still get to play around with my style while keeping it appropriate for the environment.

If you're wondering about what's new in the world of beauty, check out Anna's Swatch and Show video.

Anyone taking advantage of the Labour Day sales??

Wardrobe Restyle - Mood Boards

Hey there! Another Wardrobe Restyle post for you all today. Let's talk about mood boards, shall we?

Mood boards can be incredibly useful tools when looking for fashion inspiration. I like to have a small one on my wall all the time, and switch it up frequently. If you're having trouble defining your personal style, mood boards can help you look for patterns in the things you like. Keep reading for more photos!

The Weekend Edit Vol. 10

I can feel it, we're approaching the final nice days of summer. While I love fall, I'm not quite ready for the summer weather to end. Things will be starting to pick up full swing at work this week, we're sending my sister off to University next weekend, and some of the leaves are trying to start changing colors. Mega sad fad. So I'm keeping this short and sweet as I want to get back out on the lake ASAP!

In case you missed it it this week, I've started a new series on my blog called Wardrobe Restyle. As fall approaches, we're going to be revamping out wardrobes and talking about personal style. Check out the first 2 posts here and here.

My favourite editorial piece this week was from The New Yorker about a woman who finds out the father of her child was a spy. A great read.

I am totally crushing over this dress. Looks so comfy!

Anna and Lily do it again with another great Beauty Chat video.

I'm totally making this cake for my next event!! (I'm always asked to make the cake haha)

And finally, I'm sure you're all sick of hearing about the Ice Bucket Challenge by now, but as someone who works with ALS every day I know what a HUGE thing this has been for awareness. I took the challenge earlier this week and made my donation. I encourage my fellow Canadians to donate here. And if you're still skeptical, read this post and try doing some of the things they suggest to simulate living with ALS. Actually, everyone should just read it.

Hope you're all soaking up the last days of summer. What have you been up to this weekend?
