Fall Capsule Wardrobe!

Today is officially the first day of Fall! While I'm very sad to see the end of summer, the near frigid temperatures we've had here in Montreal over the past 2 weeks have really put me in the mood for fall.

In my first Wardrobe Restyle post, I mentioned my interest in experimenting in capsule wardrobes. I love the idea of having a capsule wardrobe, but have always been a little bit hesitant to try having one. I love my clothes, and I like variety, but I decided to take the plunge this Fall and create a capsule wardrobe for my work wear. Keep reading for more photos and details!
Capsule wardrobes are scary, for me at least, but luckily there are a lot of resources out there if you don't know where to start. My favourite two are Un-Fancy and Into Mind. I definitely recommend checking both blogs out if you're interested in trying out a capsule wardrobe.

I decided to limit my capsule wardrobe to my every day work wardrobe only. Luckily, I don't have a strict work dress code. It could probably be described as business casual, but it has to be very functional because of all the running around I do. Since I've limited the capsule to work wear only, that allows me to dress up for more formal meetings or events, and keep my casual items for weekends and days off.

Probably the most important thing that I've learned while exploring the idea of having a capsule wardrobe is that you make your own rules!

My Capsule Wardrobe Rules:
1. Have 40 items or less in my capsule wardrobe - I figured 40 was a good number to start with, and actually ended up with less than that in the end.
2. Limit myself to these items for a season - starting with Fall, my favourite season, so this capsule will extend from today until December 21st
3. Allow myself one cheat day a week - this is for my own sanity. I'm going to allow myself one work day a week where I can use other pieces from my closet that aren't in my capsule.
4. Don't shop for clothes for the entire season - this is going to be so hard! But I'm really going to try to stick to this. And if I do cave (you can't resist a great sale!) then I can't incorporate it until next season.
5. Doesn't include outerwear or accessories - this is how I really spruce up a simple outfit, and it would have been too difficult to include those items. Especially with outerwear when it comes to the ever changing climate in Montreal.
6. Allowing myself multiples - what I mean by this is that if I've included a grey tee in my capsule, I can wear any of my grey tees. This will allow me to do laundry less frequently by having multiples of my basics.
