Winter Wardrobe Edit

19.1.15

My Winter Wardrobe Edit is here! I get really lazy when it comes to dressing in winter. My outfits are usually monochrome, and consist of a sweater and comfy pants combo. Not all that interesting huh. I'm trying to make more of an effort this winter, and while these pieces are still quite monochrome (black is my favourite color after all!), they each add a unique element to my wardrobe. Keep reading to see all of the pieces!

While it seems that fall is the ultimate season for blanket scarves (they're everywhere!), I'm totally carrying mine over into winter. This tribal-print one from Zara is a favourite for bundling up in, and I've also been keeping my houndstooth one in my office for those really chilly days when I can't seem to pile on enough layers.

If you read my post on my winter mood board, you'll know that I'm really inspired by menswear pieces this season. Enter the tuxedo pant (currently on sale!). These pants are super comfy (and warm!), and add a little je ne sais quoi to any outfit!

Next up are two sale finds, and both (surprisingly) from Lululemon! This fitted black dress is the comfiest dress I own. It's a stretchy, sportswear material that looks so chic and fits great! I got it on markdown while I was in Hawaii in the fall. While I know I'll be wearing this all year long, the longer length makes it great for cold winter days paired with some tights and cute ankle booties. Slip on some heels and add a statement necklace for a nice dinner. Voila!

This oversized, blush-colored sweater was an after Christmas sale find, and it's about 2 sizes too big for me. But that's what I love about it! It is so warm and cozy, and while pink is normally not a color I gravitate towards, it's growing on me.

Another Lululemon favourite is my chunky cardigan. I own this in black as well. The long length and super thick knit have given me that push to wear more of my [longer] dresses in winter. It adds that extra layer of coziness to any outfit.

This Cuyana Cape was a total splurge for myself this Christmas and I LOVE it. Great for the winter, but this is also going to become a travel staple for me any time of year. Totally worth the money.

And accessories. I need to be hands-free, and fuss-free in the winter so I can try to avoid the inevitable icy falls (it happens at least a couple times a season). I like to use a small crossbody purse in the winter, and then stuff my lunch and work shoes in a backpack. I have been totally in love with my Phillip Lim Mini Pashli ever since I got it. It's the perfect size and has really pushed me to downsize the amount of stuff I lug around with me.

Remember we were talking about menswear? Well these menswear-inspired brogues fit that bill perfectly. Another after Christmas sale find, and I'm so glad I got them. The big bows add just the right amount of feminine flair.

What essentials are in your winter wardrobe??

  1. Love love love this post! We're totally on the same wavelength too, since I've been eyeing the Philip Lim Pashli, but in medium! How do you like yours??

    1. I LOVE it. This was totally an unnecessary splurge, but hey, I was celebrating a promotion at work ;). But I've been using it constantly. It's my first true designer bag, and really the quality is fantastic! I was considering the medium as well, but I tend to over-stuff bags that size and carry around things I don't really need. Plus, the mini is way cuter hehe
