Cleared for Takeoff with Ariane!

Welcome back! Today I'm really excited because I get to feature my amazing friend Ariane as the first guest in the "Cleared for Takeoff" series. Ariane is the fantastic blogger behind Julius + Valentina and a social media maven (don't forget to follow her on Instagram!). Always chic, she's done her fair share of travelling over the past couple of years. Paris, LA, Vegas, you name it. So without further ado, Ariane has been cleared for takeoff!

What are your airport habits? Are you early, or running for the gate? Do you have any airport rituals?
If I travel alone or with a friend, I'm always early. I hate being late... But if I travel with my husband, I will most likely be late, because of him. He always has last minute stuff to do! (And if we leave for work with his business partner, then it's even worse!)
Once at the airport, I always stop at Starbucks for an iced soy latte and Replay stand for fashion magazines and a bottle of water. I usually buy a few magazines at a time, just in case there are no good movies on the plane. I also don't trust the old recycled water from the plane... So I bring my own!

What is your go-to travel outfit?
When I travel, I like to pretend that I'm much more glamorous than I really am (LOL), so I like to dress in comfortable but luxe outfits. My go-to look is usually my Prada "driving" loafers, my black cashmere cape blanket, Alexander Wang oversized pima cotton t-shirt, leather leggings (or cashmere leggings if it's winter), my big Louis Vuitton Neverfull bag and oversized DVF sunglasses.

What beauty products make the cut for your carry on bag? Do you have any in-flight beauty routines? What are your beauty essentials for travel in general?
I always carry my makeup in my carry all since airlines have lost my luggage more than once! Although it may seem like a big array of products for some, to me, its the bare minimal I need on a daily basis: MAC StudioFix compact foundation, L'oreal Voluminous mascara in black, Nars bronzer in Laguna, Shu Uemura lash curler, my fave Nudestix lipstick in Mystique and blotting papers. If its a long flight (4hrs +) I also bring along travel sizes of: Caudalie Beauty Elixir, organic baby wipes to remove my makeup and Lucas Paw Paw ointment for hydration.

What do you always forget to pack?
Toothpaste and earplugs. It's a thing; once we land, first thing I do is stop at a Duane Read or any other pharmacy!

Do you under- or over-pack?
My motto is always: When in doubt, overdress. So with that in mind, I tend to bring many outfit options... Which means different shoes and different bags. So yeah, I over pack, for sure.

What do you do for in-flight entertainment?
Magazines, magazines, magazines. Take photos of articles or products for post & photography ideas. Music is also very important to me. In everything I do, music will set the tone, mood or inspiration for that specific moment. So when I travel, my iPod always has a dedicated playlist that's soft, relaxing & inspiring to me: Elton John's Tiny Dancer, Fleetwood Mac's Landslide (those two are my all time faves!), John Mayer's XO, Ray Lamontagne's Airwaves, Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud, Angus & Julia Stone's Big Jet Plane, Bon Iver's Skinny Love, Ellie Goulding's Your Song, Keane's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Landon Pigg's Coffee Shop and finally Phosphorescent's Song For Zula. Yes, music is a big deal to me! I may sneak in a chick flick or documentary also.

Finally, what is your #1 travel tip?
Although I over pack, I alway make sure to bring things that I can mix & match and layer together. The fact that my closet consists of black, white, b&w stripes, jeans, and gold makes it easy too. LOL
