Evening Skincare Routine

24.4.15

Skincare week continues with my evening routine (if you've missed anything, you can find my skin story here and my morning routine here). There's nothing better at the end of a long day than a great skincare pamper, so why not make that every night! Keep reading for all of the details.

- Step 1: Cleanse -
The one thing I hate the most is having to use both a makeup remover and a cleanser, which is why I prefer a cleansing balm. The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter starts off solid, and melts right into your skin to remove all makeup. If I've done something particularly fancy with my eye makeup, then I might use some Bioderma afterwards as well.
Other cleansing balms I love: Clinique

- Step 2: Tone -
I find using a toner to be more important in the evening compared to the morning, because it's your chance to remove any last little impurities hanging around. Nothing special here, just the Kate Somerville Clarifying Toner again.
Other toners I love: Kiehl's

- Step 3: Serum -
After my skin is cleansed and toned, I use my Philosophy Time in a Bottle as a serum. I'm on my second bottle of this, and I've really noticed a difference in my skin ever since I started using it.

- Step 4: Oil -
Oil? On an oily-skinned gal? Yup, you read that right. A couple of years ago, I never would have thought that I'd be slapping oil on my face, but what a difference it makes! I start with a couple of drops of the REN Bio-Retinoid Concentrate because the retinol is a great way of keeping my acne in check without using anything too harsh before bed. After giving that a couple of minutes to settle in, I use a couple drops of the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This stuff is a miracle worker and deserves a spot on everyone's bathroom shelf.
Other face oils I love: Josie Maran

- Step 5: Eye Cream -
I finish off my nighttime routine with Time in a Bottle's eye cream little sister. I'm on my first bottle of this stuff, and undecided on whether or not I'll repurchase. I like the lightweight texture, but don't notice if it makes a huge difference beyond that. Eye cream seems to be the one product I just can't make up my mind on!

Are any of these products in your routine as well? Any suggestions for me?

  1. Awesome Kris! What are your thoughts on the Kiehl's Avocado Eye Cream? I have super sensitive skin and have been hearing good things about that one.

    1. I think you would really like it! It's super creamy, but also really gentle. I would suggest going to a Kiehl's store and asking for a sample. They're great with giving you samples and not pressuring you to purchase something :)
