Lipstick Files Vol. 3 - Summer Favourites

28.7.15

I mentioned in this post that I'm a big fan of bright lipstick, especially in the summer. But for the last couple of weeks, in the unbearable heat we've had, I just can't be bothered with maintaining a bright lip. So I've been gravitating towards light, effortless, peachy shades these days. Here's a look at the lip products currently hanging around at the bottom of my purse.

On the days when I am literally melting in my apartment in the morning, you'd be hard pressed to convince me to do anything other than line my lips with a little bit of Marc Jacobs (P)outliner in Honey Bun topped off with a good slather of Glossier Balm Dotcom. I was pretty gutted when I lost my beloved Glossier Balm Dotcom in a cab back in February, but ever since my mum brought me back a replacement from her trip to Florida (Glossier, if you're reading this, please ship to Canada soon!), it has barely left my side.

You've also seen me rave on and on (evidence here and here) about Nudestix, and I recently added another lip shade to my collection: Ripe. It's the perfect peachy, almost orange, shade to go with my tan. I love how effortless these sticks are!

For a bit of a gloss, I've been reaching for my Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Affriolant. Ok, so I'm not going to lie, the huge draw of these glosses for me are definitely the packaging. There is something so luxurious about that click as the wand pops up. But hey, this pinky color is also pretty great.

Finally, my newest find, Clinique Pop Lip Color in Poppy Pop. I'm sad that I was late to the game on this release as it means that I've had less time to enjoy this gorgeous shade. I tested a few shades out in store (Melon Pop is also calling my name! Perhaps a naughty purchase in Duty Free next week), and they're creamy, glide on super easy, but the color lasts. I love popping this shade on after work before heading out to dinner.

What lip products are currently floating around in your bag? Come on, you know we all hoard them in our purses. Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Thanks for the reviews, Kris! For lipstick, I'm generally a Mac girl-- Russian Red-- as it lasts for ages; however, I got a freebie at Sephora of Fresh's SPF 15 Sugar Rosé and I love it. I believe you have this too? And then for untinted things, Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is my favorite.
